School Nurse reminder
Dear Parent/Guardian:
The peak of the cold and flu season is upon us. To prevent widespread illness in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms.
There are times when you are not sure whether you should keep your child home or send them to school. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines:
A fever of 100.4 or higher. A student must be fever free for 24 hours without medication such as Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school.
Diarrhea more than one time in 24 hours.
Vomiting more than one time in 24 hours.
Rash, blisters or sores, especially if a fever is present.
If your child has been diagnosed with strep throat, pink eye, or impetigo, etc. They must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school and fever free.
Stomach ache or headache.
General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches.
New very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough. A student with a lingering cough after an illness should be in school.
To help prevent the flu and other colds, please encourage your students to wash their hands often and cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing. Also, please consider sending a water bottle to encourage hydration throughout the day.
Thank you in advance for helping make this year at school as healthy as possible.
Sincerely,
North Sanpete School Nurses
